JUST ANNOUNCED: The higher your Loyalty Level, the higher the maximum # of transactions and transaction volume available for in-app swaps per day.

How is your CEL Ratio calculated?

Many people get confused when it comes to the CEL Ratio. There are 2 trains of thoughts, but only 1 is correct and the distinction is very important.

Method #1

CEL Ratio is determined by calculating the ratio of CEL to other total assets in your Celsius wallet.

Calculation looks like this: LoyaltyLevel = CELvalue/ (WholePortfolioValue – CELvalue)

Method #2

CEL Ratio is determined by the percentage (%) of CEL in relation to your total assets in your Celsius wallet.

Calculation looks like this: LoyaltyLevel = CELvalue/WholePortfolioValue)

For example: A Celsius user wants the Platinum Loyalty Level (requiring at least 25% CEL Ratio). The user has a total of $1,250 USD worth of crypto assets in their Celsius wallet. Using the above methods for calculation, this would be the breakdown:

Method #1

In order to receive Platinum Loyalty, the user would need:
$250 USD in CEL +
$1,000 USD in other assets

Calculation now looks like this: Platinum = $250/($1,250-$250)
= 25%

However, CEL only represents 20% of the total portfolio
($250/$1,250)

Method #2

In order to receive Platinum Loyalty, the user would need:
$312.50 in CEL +
$937.50 in other assets

Calculation now looks like this: Platinum = $312.50/$1,250
= 33.33%

CEL represents 25% of the total portfolio in this case.
($312.50/$1,250)

In conclusion, Method #1 is the correct way to calculate the CEL Ratio. As the name indicates, you need to look at the RATIO and not the PERCENTAGE. In the example above, BOTH calculations will result in a CEL Ratio high enough for the Platinum Loyalty Level. HOWEVER, Method #1 requires CEL to be only 20% of the total portfolio.
